Happy Birthday GG, Meme, Gage...

We had a great time at our house today! We celebrated Mama, Meme, and Gage's birthdays. We ate lunch cooked by ME! We had terrigon chicken (let me know if you want the recipe), mashed potatoes, and green beans wrapped in bacon...YUMMY. Carla made the really cute (and tasty) cake with almond eggs on top and we served it with ice cream. Everyone had a great time just hanging out in the country and visiting!
The birthday boy and girls blowing out their candles...

Gage and Meme

Gage and Papa watching Bolt. GG gave it to Gage for his birthday.

Mama and I flying kite in the front yard...nice windy day.

Gage would slide down backwards and Sam would catch him.

Just a swingin' Ken and Carla

Slick's 1st Turkey

Bradley and Chuck (brother-in-law) called up a turkey for Slick this morning. It was his first and it was on our land...so it is a very special turkey! It had a 9 1/2 inch beard and good spurs...You Go Slick! I'm sure it was a site to see them all hunting together this morning all in a big blind together. Everyone had to be photographed with the bird of course! My little boys woke up about 10 minutes before the big boys got back with the bird so yep...they are still in their PJ's for the photo shoot.

Bunny Picture...

I am such a sucker for pictures...Yesterday PriorityOne Bank was doing pictures with a live bunny. There was a $5.00 donation for Relay for Life. Pictures...with a bunny...for a good cause...I am there! I had the boys polos at Lola's house so when I picked up the Toby and Gage I would change everyone shirts there so they would be clean and cute for the photo session with bunny. Kristi took great shots; she actually took lots more for me that she is putting on a disc for me. I snapped this one with my phone just so I could share it b/c I did not think I could wait until Monday to see this picture again. I will share some other cute ones when I get the disc back next week. Happy Early Easter for now...

Stunt Car Driver...

Where does this child get these ideas? We were walking back from the chickens and Gage was out in the yard on his 4-wheeler and said "Mama and Daddy watch me!" We just started laughing at him. He had one foot on the go pedal and the other on the seat...then trying to go for short periods of time without holding on to the handles. Ummmm...Carson NEVER did stuff like this!

Another one of this tricks...

Then Taylor told him to load up with her...

Couldn't resist adding this picture. Toby and Nutmeg playing on the deck!

Not-so-Easter "egg hunt"

Every afternoon when we all get in from school we get our cups and containers together and head out to the carport to get crack corn, laying mash, whole corn, and sometimes a little bird seed. Bird seed is their "little debbie snack"...can't have it everyday but it's so yummy every once in a while. Then we head out to feed all the chickens and go on our not-so-Easter egg hunt! We have a house for them to lay eggs in but some of them are determined to lay in some pretty creative places! So we go on our egg hunt to find all of the eggs...it can get pretty funny sometimes.

Taylor (Carson's buddy from school) loves to go on egg hunts with us when she comes over to play. Carson is going thru the briars to get the egg that Taylor is pointing out...can you see it...it is light brown and near the base of the tree.

Taylor got it! She is practicing for the REAL Easter Egg Hunt!

This is the hen house where they are suppose to lay their eggs.

Gage has spotted one under the laying boxes that he had to get.

Taylor got 2 eggs...

Carson found one in another egg...see it really is an egg hunt!

Brad taking the kiddos out to feed the other chickens...the Americanas. They lay the blue/green eggs! They are pretty civilized birds because all of them lay where they are suppose to right in their boxes they we have made for them. No egg hunts in this pen!

Toby loves this chickens. He will just sit and smile at them most of the time but in this picture is wanting me to let me him down so he can go after them today!

Muddy Gage Kennedy

This past weekend I changed Gage's clothes 4 times and had to give him 2 baths! I just have to bite my lip when he comes to the door and says "look Mama I'm all muddy!" Thank goodness that we have a door that you can enter from the outside right into our master bathroom and walk right into the shower...I guess God knew what I was doing when I built this house b/c I sure did not know I would have 3 boys 5 years later! Let's just say that this door and shower gets used a lot for muddy little boys. I just laugh, roll with this punches, start another load of laundry, and remember that they had TONS of fun getting this muddy.

Let's Go Fly a Kite...

On the way home from school this past week Carson told me that he needed a spiderman kite. I remember that at school they have a Kite Day and learn all about kites and fly them in the afternoon...it's a BIG deal at school. So I told him that I would look at Wal-Mart when I went later on in the week. Well...I found some for $1.00 so I could not resist. Of course I was going to try to keep them hidden until I was ready to fly them, but they were helping bring groceries in and found them right away. I held them off until the next morning...Saturday morning we got them out, put them together, and headed out to fly kites. Nana and Slick (yes, that's what we call Brad's dad) showed up on the 4-wheeler and Slick helped me out! He was really good at it too!

Gage got into kite flying...after I would work to get it up in the air! He was so pumped up and was telling us all about how his was way up in the air. I love this picture b/c he is so "into" it.

Slick, Carson, Nana, and Toby kite flying! See Gage in the background continue to fly his!

Brad did break away from finishing up building the young chicks a pen and attempt to fly the kite. Let's just say he went back to finishing up building the chicks pen quite quickly. We all just laughed at his efforts poor things...but it was very comical! I guess you just have to know Brad!

Kite crashed and I took the opportunity to smile with Carson before I attempted to get it back up again. Slick and I fly the kites for a good long while...a good $2.00 well spent...lots of good family!

Here are our kites when we got them way up in the air...superheros and spiderman!
